aking countries, lingerie is associated with fabrics that enhance and flatter the female figure, which makes the wearer looks more appealing and sexually attractive. But, the undergarment could also be created with the modesty or even comfort in mind.

The term actually originates from the Latin term “lineus” that means made of linen. It was originally made of cotton or linen. The undergarments are being use both by men and women for several years now. Other items that are related to lingerie are panties and bras, corsets which is relatively modern. Several lingerie up to the 18^th century was created to offer an added layer of insulation, or is used for modesty and hygienic concerns. It is made to be simple, and most of the time cumbersome in style.

French courtesans in 18^th century begin to realized the potential appeal of underwear which were designed to excite the viewer. There are several members of the society that continue to use plain lingerie in the form of slips, corsets and petticoats. It was in 1960 that the companies begin manufacturing lingerie with particularly ornamental objective in mind, as well as create more traditional lingerie garments.
